DJ Rob Manga

Influenced by genres like Soul, Disco, Pop, Rock, Rob Manga found his passion for soulful tunes at an early age. Carefully selecting classic as well as unique tracks and paying close attention to high quality sound, he developed an outstanding taste for music.

In 1992 he was invited to Amsterdam’s first and later most successful HipHop/R&B-Party called Bassline which started in the legendary venue The Roxy, moved to the The Soul Kitchen, then moved to Melkweg and eventually found home at the Paradiso. Ultimately commercial success of Bassline caused Manga to stop DJing there in 1999. He wanted stay true to influences such as DJ Spinna, Kenny Dope, Danny Krivit and those who inspired him like Stevie Wonder, James Brown, The Jackson 5 and the late J. Dilla.

As Manga became more influential, he started organizing his own events, such as LEGENDS, which is appreciated as the best Soul-Party in Amsterdam and presents a unique form of an audiovisual event that combines every type of soul-music while showing their videos during a 5-hour-solo-set played by Manga himself and vj Supreme Cuisine. In April 2014 Manga came up with a new concept, AM/PM, where he was spinning a 24 hours strictly vinyl set in club Toren in Amsterdam. A dedication to the art of DJ-ing and vinyl records. Manga plans to bring this dedication, in form of AM/PM to audiences worldwide.

He’s the resident DJ at the finest clubs and parties in the Netherlands such as Legends (Paradiso / Amsterdam), More Bounce (Canvas / Amsterdam), Do The The Right Thing (Bitterzoet / Amsterdam) and In Living Color (Bird / Rotterdam).

On an international scale he played in New York, Baltimore, Los Angeles, London, Bangkok, Seoul and London amongst many other cities worldwide.

He DJ-ed at at many festivals multiple times such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, Lowlands, the UK BBoy Championships in London, Summerdance Forever and the Amsterdam Fashion Week.

He supported international headliners such as D’Angelo, Gregory Porter, En Vogue, DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, Jurassic 5, Tower Of Power, Angie Stone, De La Soul, Chaka Khan, Al Green, Earth Wind & Fire, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, DJ Spinna and Kenny Dope among many others.
